Our Story

About Youth SouthWest Christchurch

Who are we?
Youth SouthWest Christchurch is a non-profit organisation working with young people (11-25 years old) in the southwest of Christchurch. We are passionate about connecting with young people, journeying alongside them and empowering each one to develop into the best people they can be.

What do we do?
We do this through presence-based youth work at schools, building trust, mentoring and running programmes that impact relationships, leadership development and cultural diversity. Our Mission is to nurture the whole young person, building purpose, wellbeing, and community. We partner with local schools, assisting teachers while providing a wider holistic support network for students.

The primary role of the Youth Worker is to build hope into the lives of youth, inspiring the next generation of community leaders. They model leadership and encourage and strengthen students, seeking to create a safe and fun environment where the school’s values are promoted. We employ well trained, caring Youth Workers who are supported by a network of experienced and passionate volunteers

How is the Trust supported?
Trustees offer a passion for young people alongside their professional skills, business and community leadership experience. We work to our strategic plan, collaborating with community development groups and maintaining robust administrative and financial systems. Profiles of our Trustees follow.
